Renowned Iranian actress Golab Adineh wins an award at Beijing Int’l Filmfest, China.

Renowned Iranian actress Golab Adineh has won an award at the Beijing International Film Festival in China.

Adineh won the award for best female actress in a leading role for the movie ‘The Sis’ ('Abji' in Farsi) at the Chinese event.

Born Golab Mosta'an, Golab Adineh holds a degree in Political Economics from Iran's Shahid Beheshti University.

She began theater acting in 1975 as a student in a troupe formed by Mehdi Hashemi and Dariush Farhang, and also appeared in many plays.

However, it was her performance in the drama 'Sultan and the Sheppard' which shot her to fame. She has also tried her hand at directing.

Adineh has been a candidate for the Crystal Simorgh for Best Actress in a Leading Role for 'Mum's Guest' and 'While Everyone Was Asleep'.

Directed by Marjan Ashrafizadeh, ‘The Sis’ competed with 15 other films from China, Canada, France, Australia, Finland and Georgia.

Founded in 2011, the Beijing International Film Festival takes its namesake from the large Chinese city.

Since it was launched, the festival has been actively attended by Hollywood executives, directors, producers and studio heads.
